Prehistoric stork

Two years ago, Anthony Fiorello of the Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas and a team of fellow scientists identified evidence of a pterosaur that set down in Denali National Park about 100 million years ago. It was only a single handprint, but enough to confirm that the flying reptiles once soared over Alaska. James Havens will unveil his new painting of the critter and sign prints from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Alaska Museum of Natural History, 201 N. Bragaw St. Fiorello will speak at the Murie Science and Learning Center in the park, 1.2 Parks Road, at 7 p.m. on Aug. 11.
